Cathodic Protection – Polywrap and Pipeline Coatings

Pipelines can be installed offshore or onshore, and in both cases are subject to corrosion. If not prevented, these pipelines can sustain damage that negatively affects operations, creates danger, and is highly expensive to repair and replace. At EGW Water & Plumbing, we offer a range of different polywrap and pipeline coating options to aid with cathodic protection and help prevent corrosion.

Cathodic protection can be applied to various types of pipelines to reduce the effectiveness of corrosive forces. The required current, the area to be protected, and the soil resistivity must all be taken to account when using this method.

Polywrap

To help aid with cathodic protection and fight corrosion, we offer an array of 8 Mil, AWWA utility grade polywrap comprised of linear low density virgin polyethylene and manufactured in the USA.

We also offer 10 mil polywrap tape in 2 and 4 inch widths. This tape consists of plasticized and stabilized PVC film, coated with noncorrosive, pressure sensitive adhesive. It is particularly useful for wrapping fittings, valves, and elbows.

Pipeline Coatings

In addition to polywrap, we can provide a line of coatings to aid in corrosion prevention and cathodic protection, including Densyl Tape, Denso Paste, and Denso Profiling Mastic.

Densyl Tape delivers long-term corrosion resistance for pipes, valves, flanges, and other related surfaces. Denso Paste is highly useful as a primer before Denso petrolatum tape is applied. Other complex shapes, flanged joints and valves can be enhanced with the smoother profile through the use of Denso profiling mastic.
